Pullover! (No, it's a cardigan! But thanks for asking!)

Got pulled over yesterday. On my bike. Going 50 in a 25. (Ha! Just kidding. I wish I could go 50 without wetting myself.) I didn't stop at a crosswalk for a couple chickens who apparently wanted to get to the other side. Only twice since I've lived at the current house have I managed to go all the way down 8th without having to stop at a light. If I hit the first light just as it turns yellow, and I book it for the next eight blocks, I'm home free. But it's only happened twice. (Note: going back up 8th, a full 2.5 miles uphill, I almost always make it the whole way without getting stopped at a light.) Yesterday, I was at the booking-it-for-eight-blocks part when I broke the law and didn't stop. Cop gave me a nice little lecture on how bikes need to obey the same laws cars do....yeah, yeah, yeah. I get it. At least she was nice about it. At least she didn't have a 10-34 to respond to.

So, you're trying to get to the other side of a fairly low-traffic road with a nice, convenient median to stop at. As you're walking, you see a biker booking it down the hill. Do you a) pause for a moment to let him pass, b) let him pass and curse him for being so selfish, c) call the cops, or d) walk out and make him stop and/or swerve?

I prefer to do this confused little shuffle dance. Wa ha ha! *dodging toward the bike* Am I going to cross? Nope. *leap backwards, looking confused*

Pedestrians ALWAYS have the right of way, even if it feels wrong. The trick might be to use as much road as possible and swerve when needed, because generally speaking a guy on a bicycle has the right of way compared to a car (unless it is a police car)
